We were privileged to witness an "Inspiring Lecture Bridging Eastern and Western Thought," featuring the world-renowned Professor Falk Schwendicke. As a leading expert in digital health and restorative dentistry, Professor Schwendicke brought his profound experience and wisdom to the stage, offering a masterclass that blended clinical precision with aesthetic art.

Core Highlights: WSLs & MIH Management
The lecture focused on the clinical challenges of vestibular white spot lesions, emphasizing that precise diagnosis is the bedrock of successful aesthetics . Professor Schwendicke detailed the characteristics of various lesions:
- Post-Orthodontic White Spots: Typical "window-shaped" demineralization caused by biofilm accumulation around brackets.
- Fluorosis: Unlike localized spots, fluorosis typically affects teeth symmetrically in a "mirrored" or "foggy" pattern .
- MIH (Molar Incisor Hypomineralization): A global challenge affecting. roughly 1 in 7 children . These lesions are well-demarcated and vary from white to "coffee cream" yellow or brown.
Minimal Intervention Philosophy
The Professor advocated for a stepwise minimally invasive workflow, aiming to sacrifice as little tooth substance as possible :
- Diagnosis & Trans-illumination: Assessing lesion depth and severity .
- Bleaching: Beyond aesthetics, bleaching helps cleave and remove proteins trapped in MIH enamel.
- Resin Infiltration: A revolutionary way to mask spots by adjusting the refractive index of the enamel .
